"In Losing You" is a song written for my beautiful dog Charlotte. Our family had a little scare with Charlotte - after what seemed like a routine visit to the vet, she was diagnosed with something that could end her life in a matter of days. After deliberating over the decision on what we do, I immediately went to my handpan and played the riff you hear throughout the song. From there, I wrote lyrics to express how I was feeling and the thought of losing Charlotte.
My intention with the lyrics was to paint a picture that not only relates to Charlotte but to any relationship, particularly those where we feel that we are losing touch with someone or may never see them again.
Featuring the world class piano playing of Sophie Min - thank you Sophie, you added so much to this song.
lyrics
You won’t be here with me tonight
You’re out of sight, not out of mind
How I long to hold you in my arms again
Relive those moments that we shared again
Those moments that brought us joy
Togetherness, but now what’s left?
In losing you, in losing you
It’s hard to accept that you’re not here
In losing you, in losing you,
There’s an empty place, empty place within my heart
Now you’re not here, here no more
But always in my thoughts
In losing you, in losing you,
There’s an empty place, empty place within my heart
Now you’re not here, here no more
But always in my thoughts
Never lost, never lost in my thoughts
