about

Waiting Room is inspired the imagery of sitting in a waiting room and
the emotions that are brought up whilst waiting to visit a loved one.
The music depicts the polarities that I have seen within hospitals: on
one hand, it’s a building that is so busy with movement and activity
but at the same time, it’s also very quiet and reserved. There’s fear,
uncertainty, grief, hope, relief; a complexity of emotions.

These emotions are revealed in the faces of the patients, staff and
visitors I see walking by as I play the handpan. My hope is that this
melody (beautifully captured by Simon Svoboda on the cello) brings
you feelings of peace, comfort and reassurance during tough times.
